Individual, Couple, and Family Therapy

I work with individuals, couples, families and relationships of any kind with a variety of issues and work together with them to create a unique treatment plan. I consider both the individual and the relational aspects that contribute to the challenges someone faces. I work to understand how biology, relationships, environment, culture, and spirituality effect someone's life experience. I help people with a range of issues including depression, anxiety, communication, life transitions, trauma/PTSD, complex PTSD, emotion regulation, nonsuicidal self-injury, suicidality, and grief/loss.

Child/Teen Therapy

EMDR and Trauma Therapy

I work with individuals, couples, families and relationships of any kind with a variety of issues and work together with them to create a unique treatment plan. I consider both the individual and the relational aspects that contribute to the challenges someone faces. I work to understand how biology, relationships, environment, culture, and spirituality effect someone's life experience. I help people with a range of issues including depression, anxiety, communication, life transitions, trauma/PTSD, complex PTSD, emotion regulation, nonsuicidal self-injury, suicidality, and grief/loss.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an extensively researched intervention that helps people connect their mind and body in a way that allows previous traumas to get "unstuck." It is a brief therapy and different than traditional talk therapy. This therapy allows people to safely learn how to connect to their emotions and bodies, move through old beliefs, feel more connected to themselves, and reduce the negative charge from painful events. If you have ever felt like you have logically moved past a previously painful experience but still notice an overwhelming emotional response to that time, then EMDR may help!

DBT

RODBT

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) is a type of cognitive behavioral therapy designed to help adults and adolescents, and is shown to be an effective treatment of a wide range of concerns, including thoughts of suicide, eating disorders, nonsuicidal self-injury, and chronic emotion dysregulation. It is a skills-based approach for people experiencing intense and overwhelming emotions. The goal of this therapy is to help people create a life that feels worth living, or one that feels fulfilling and is full of meaning/purpose.

DBT teaches skills to help people stay in the present moment, tolerate distress and get through difficult situations without making it worse, replace harmful behaviors with more effective ones, understand and manage emotions, and improve relationships and communication.  This practice does not offer DBT skills groups, but I do provide DBT-informed therapy and can work with other clinicians who provide DBT skills groups if needed. Access to phone coaching between sessions may be provided after a thorough assessment.

Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy is an empirically validated treatment that helps people who struggle with "too much self control" This can include issues such as rigidity in behaviors or thinking (perfectionism), social isolation, those who identify as emotionally shut down or guarded, or people who have an excessive need to be in control.

While traditional DBT benefits those who want to learn more emotional or behavioral control, RODBT is helpful to folks who want to learn more openness and flexibility. Access to phone coaching between sessions may be provided after a thorough assessment.

I do not offer RODBT skills groups, but am happy to collaborate with other clinicians who offer those services.

Parent Coaching

I draw from my family systems, DBT and RODBT training to help parents learn skills to feel more effective, empowered, and connected to their children. Parent coaching can be an excellent resource if your child or teen is already in therapy, and you could benefit from your own space to support your child's work. I help parents work through a number of topics including mental health, school issues, nonsuicidal self-injury, suicidality, and impulsivity. Access to phone coaching between sessions may be provided after a thorough assessment.
